High refractoriness coatings for cores and moulds for replacing zirconium based coatings

The new series of coatings FOUNDRYLAC ZBF and HYDROLAC AL has been developed by the laboratory R&D F.lli Mazzon SpA, as requested by some customers looking for alternatives to zirconium-based coatings, which maintaining high refractoriness.
 
These coatings contain loads with high melting point that enable their use -successfully- rather than zirconium coatings than customers routinely used.
 
The first advantage is the elimination of the natural radioactivity of zirconium, which can result radar control problems at admission in casting or when disposing of waste packaging.
 
Another important aspect is the possibility of using these coatings with chromite sands, which can cause defects in metal/mould reaction if used with coatings of zirconium, getting off the melting point.
 
Were remove also some defects calcinations, cracks and pin-holes, resulting in a better surface appearance of the casting.
 
The ZBF and AL refractory coatings - available water and alcohol for all types of application (brushing - flow coating - spraying - dipping) - have given the best results in steel and ductile iron foundries with furan resin, alkaline phenolic or alkyd, casting up to 100 tons.
